When should we submit our Notification of Intended Marriage Form?

You need to complete and submit the form at least one month before your wedding date.

When and where can we have our wedding?

You can have your wedding at any time and place of your choice.

Can we get married in a public park?

Yes, you can. Just make sure to check your local council's website to see if you need to make a booking.

Do I have to have my father walk me down the aisle?

Not at all. You can choose to have anyone you like to accompany you or walk alone if you prefer.

Who can be our witnesses?

Your witnesses can be anyone over the age of 18 who understands the ceremony.

Can we get married if we’re intoxicated just before the ceremony?

No, you cannot. All parties, including the witnesses, must be sober. If there's any doubt, the celebrant may refuse to conduct the ceremony.

How does the bride sign the marriage certificates?

The bride should sign in her maiden name.

How will I remember what to say during the ceremony?

You don’t need to memorise your vows. You can either repeat them after the celebrant or read them from a written copy.

What should we consider for a beach wedding?

It's wise to check tide times. You can find this information at the Bureau of Meteorology website: Bureau of Meteorology Tide Tables.

What if bad weather is forecasted for our wedding?

Always have a 'Plan B' for your ceremony. Consider how you'll handle adverse weather, whether by moving the ceremony under cover or finding shelter if it’s on a beach or in a bush setting. Make sure to communicate any changes with your celebrant and other wedding providers to ensure everything goes smoothly.
